Rare vintage, mechanical, pocket watch Bucherer - “Gold Dollar” with mechanical movement is a vintage pocket watch produced by Bucherer around 1960 -1970s. It is made in the shape of a gold coin from 1825.
It is a hand-wound two-hand watch with a gold-plated case and a gold-colored dial. The dial is in excellent original condition. There are inscriptions around the dial - “United Stаtes Of America”, “One Dollar”.
The back cover design mimics a gold coin with an image of Liberty's head in profile surrounded by stars, with the inscription “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and the date “1825”.
This type of watch is known as a “coin watch”. Bucherer, a famous Swiss brand, produced such models using a case made of real or stylized coin elements. This is probably a version based on a US dollar coin design.
The back cover has the phrase “E Pluribus Unum”, which is a Latin expression that translates to “Out of many, one”. It has historical significance as the motto of the United States of America and symbolizes the unification of the 13 colonies into a single nation.
A neat chain loop gives the case a sleek look, and the crown sits neatly on top of the watch. The watch can be used as a pendant.
